Smallmouth Bass Float Trip

*Best time for Smallmouth Bass: April - October

This trip can be tailored to any skill level from beginner to expert. We mainly target fish with a fly rod but you are welcome to use conventional fishing gear if you’d like. We fish on sections of the upper Mississippi River between Brainerd and Minneapolis, MN.

You can expect a day full of fun chasing smallmouth bass out of a Hyde Drift Boat. Bald eagle sightings, top water explosive eats, trophy sized smallies, and an occasional pike or musky chasing your fly or lure is not uncommon on the float trip. Instruction and all of the necessary fishing gear is included. 2 Anglers max per boat.

Rates: (prices are per boat, 1 or 2 anglers per boat)

4 hour Float: $375

6 hour Float: $450

8 hour Float: $525

(if you have a larger group, we can accommodate with more guides and drift boats, 6 persons max. Send us a message or call 612.770.6925 if you have a group larger than 2 people)

What do I need to bring with for the float trip?

All anglers ages 16 and over will need to purchase a Minnesota Fishing License for the day/days that they plan to fish. All fishing gear is provided. Plan accordingly for weather, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, light coat, rain jackets, long sleeve sun shirts, shorts, pants, hat, and proper footwear are all a good idea to bring with (you won’t have to get out of the boat if you don’t want to, sandals or tennis shoes are just fine). Water is provided, feel free to bring whatever snacks, food, and beverages you’d like.

What airport should I fly into?

Fly into Minnepolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP).

Where should I stay in Minnesota?

We recommend downtown Minneapolis, lots of great food options, plenty of great hotels, and about a 30-60 minute drive lower section of the river we guide on. Monticello, St. Cloud, and Baxter/Brainerd Lakes area are also great options for the upper sections of the river that we guide on.
