Driftless Area Trout Fishing

The Driftless area is defined as, “a lack of glacial drift, the deposits of silt, gravel, and rock that retreating glaciers leave behind. It’s geography is characterized by its steep, rugged landscape, and by the largest concentration of cold water streams in the world.

The area includes parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. There is an incredible amount of a trout fishing to be had on many of the streams. We mostly fish streams that are within 1-2 hour drive of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Expect to learn a great deal about how to target brown trout, rainbow trout, and brook trout using a variety of techniques. This trip can be tailored for beginner and advanced anglers. Fly casting instruction is included. Many of these streams are accessible for walk and wade trips.

We also offer drift boat float trips for trout on the Root River. These float trips are done with Root River Rod Co located in Lanesboro, MN.
